Frequently Asked Questions
What animals can I see on a night safari?
Wilpattu's night safari features nocturnal wildlife including rusty-spotted cats (Sri Lanka's rarest wild cat), loris, jackals, civets, and hunting leopards. The spotlight technique used by our naturalists reveals eyeshine from hundreds of meters away — you see animals you'd never spot in daylight.
How does the night safari work?
You'll be picked up from your hotel around 6:30-7:00 PM. The safari drives along the park boundary road using spotlights to locate wildlife. The route covers forest edges, lakes, and open areas where nocturnal animals come out to hunt and drink.
Is a night safari worth it?
Absolutely. Night safaris are the highlight for many visitors — the park transforms after dark. You'll see species that are rarely active during the day, and the spotlight hunting technique used by our guides is incredible. It's also our most affordable safari.
Can I combine a night safari with a day safari?
Yes. Many guests book a full-day safari followed by a night safari on the same day. Contact us via WhatsApp for special combos.
